Introducing: Kuroshitsuji OC Catherine Maguire

I thought quite a while about creating my own character for the Kuroshitsuji-/Black Butler- universe.
I usually end up doing that when I like a special series or movie. Even with books! XD
I had her design in my head for quite a while as well as her nickname, but was unsure about her character and her backstory. Now I´m ready to present her!

Besides my regular stable crew, this is the very first fan character I create and present on deviantArt. Critique on how to improve her is very welcome! I just ask to be not too harsh with me, ´kay? I´m a noob to this.

And I admit I´ve added some of my own character traits in there. Like the frills thing. I love everything frilly.

Name: Catherine Margaret
Nicknames: Kitty, Kate (she dislikes being called “Kathy” and prefers “Kitty”, but “Kate” is fine as well)
Gender: Female
Species: Grim Reaper / Shinigami
Age: Transferred to human age, she´s about twenty years old. However many people think she´s younger, as she is quite short and has rather big eyes, which gives her a younger look – and she hates it.

Eye Color: Fluorescent green (normal reaper color)
Body: Thin but not too thin; average leg length.
Height: 1,65 m / 5ft 461⁄64in
Weight: 58 kg / 127 pds
Hair Color: Pale brown with a slight bit of red in it.
Hair Style: Long hair, straight cut. Usually wears a high ponytail. Might wear her hair open in private, but braids it to sleep. Has always two strands left and right of her face out of the ponytail.
Skin Tone: White
Scars: None

Clothing: Kitty loves delicate frills, but there mustn´t be too many of them. Her waistcoat features a row or frills and her blouse has tiny ones at the seams and the arms. In private she likes to wear comfortable long dresses, preferably with tartan pattern. Her wardrobe features tartan dresses of any shape and in any color.

She dislikes tights and prefers to wear overknee socks. Her office shoes are soft and comfortable – perfect for a day at the office. In her free time she usually wears brown leather boots whose heels are a bit higher. She prefers folded skirts over straight ones.

Her coat is rarely longer than her skirt, and much longer on the back than on the front. It features two rows of buttons on the waist part. Its material is suitable for every kind of weather. In winter, she might add warmer gloves, a scarf and a bonnet and/or earmuffs, as well as leg warmers if needed.

In modern times, she switches from tartan to flower patterns and prefers to wear her hair open in her leisure time. A pair of jeans and a nice shirt are enough to make her feel good, though she also likes to wear dresses with flower prints.

Her office attire will stay more or less the same, even in modern times. She thinks it´s funny when people call it “gothic” or even “Lolita-like”.

Accessories: She almost always adds a bow to her outfit, though she only wears one in the hair when she´s not working. Her hair bow has always to match her dress.

Personality and backstory

Kitty is a cheerful young lady. At work, she is efficient and more or less punctual and tries to do her very best, although she does not always manage to do so. She´s quite talkative with colleagues, and you can easily distract her with a little chat.

She is rather sociable. While being shy at first meetings, she befriends people easily as soon as the ice is broken. She likes to go out for a nice lunch or a drink, though she is not a really hard party maker. She loves to laugh and often makes jokes an puns.

Some of her leisure time activities are reading, listening to music, playing the violin (though she is a little rusty with it due to lack of time to practice). She also enjoys cooking and baking and sometimes brings cookies or cupcakes to the office to share with her colleagues.

Though most of her co-workers appreciate this behaviour, some of them judge this as an attempt to butter herself up. Many people don´t get on with her sense of humour as well and judge her obnoxious.

Kitty also has her quiet and thoughtful moments from time to time. Even if she smiles at those who talk badly of her, she is hurt by their words and often only shows her sadness when she is at home. She rarely shows this side of her to others, unless she trusts the person next to her very deeply. She very rarely cries, and hardly ever in front of others. Some people who have witnessed her in situations where people usually would cry judged her as being ´cold-hearted´.

Kitty just finished the Academy and works now in the General Affairs Department. Her secret dream is to be transferred to the Collections Department one day, though she is aware that this is not very probable. Even with that knowledge in mind, she never gives up her dream and sometimes breaks up in tears when reality brings her back to Earth.

Kitty is afraid of complete darkness. She always has a small night light on in her bedroom.

She rarely speaks of her past, not because she feels the need to hide something, but because she thinks that it´s not that interesting. As far as she remembers, she died in an accident that happened quite often in the time period she lived in. Her Academy years were quite quiet, though she was far more of a quiet person than she is now, and therefor a bit of an outcast. She did have a few friends though, and her grades were average – mostly Bs, with an occasional A now and then if she was lucky or had studied very hard, and sometimes also Cs.

She´s currently single and does not have any specific gender preference.

I´ve decided to elaborate only a few things of her backstory, as I find it more interesting to develop it as she grows and as she develops relationships with other characters.
