Best Friend
You stood there in the entryway of my house. I didn’t know you. You were new in town, you said, new in the neighbourhood, and wanted to say hello.
I was at my lowest. Hurt, angry, disappointed. Mourning the future I thought I had lost.
You just stood there, smiling smugly, arms crossed lazily in front of your chest.
„Come on, let’s go“, you said, as if we had known each other for years.
We became best friends almost instantly.
I did have many friends and admirers, but never a best friend, per se. Not like that. I guess that’s one of the reasons why I started to observe you so closely, because I wasn’t us
