The summer slowly came to an end; some of the trees around the estate already turned golden.
Endymion felt that it was time to leave and search for a way to come back to his Moon Princess, as he called the goddess, but for some reasons he was hesiting. Leaving the only human behind that had been kind to him felt like betrayal, and he did not want to travel alone. Asking the girl to come with him was out of the question; although he loved her company, he felt that this stable was a safe haven for her tormented mind, and he did not want to drag her away from the only place she felt at home. He decided to stay a few weeks longer to see how things would develop, but he was determined to leave before the beginning of winter.

The thunder woke him up several times at night; after the weeks of heat the boiling clouds collided with the cold air coming from the north to create frightening heavenly battles. He was not afraid of thunderstorms; he enjoyed observing the lightning illuminating the clouds, and when it started to rain, he loved falling asleep to the sound of the drops hitting the roof. At daytime, he liked the way the forest smelled while thunderstorms, and he went outside to watch every single time.

Though something was wrong this time. He could feel that this was far from being a normal thunderstorm. He could feel the presence of a being that was similar to him; and as he went further on the pastures he saw him standing on one of the rocks that marked the upper border to the forest, observing him.

Kataigída has been famous for his calm and reserved, almost mysterious behaviour back when both of them had still called the grounds on Mount Olympus their homes. In contrast to this stood the power and energy with which he could defend himself and others, and the rage that could be born in his heart while being in anger. His flaming red mane and tail flowed in the wind, and his coat was shiny, the raindrops defining each of his muscles. They had known each other before, and one could even consider them as friends, despite Kataigída´s reserved nature.

“You? Here?”, Endymion exclaimed, galopping towards him.
“I have been searching you for so long…where have you been, my friend?”

Kataigída turned his back at Endymion and disappeared between the bushes, just to reappear on the pasture a few seconds later.

“It is good to see a well-known face”, he spoke in his dark, velvety voice. “I have been lonely. Is this your new home?”

“I will be leaving soon; until then you may stay on these grounds and rest easy. The human beings living here take good care of us equines.”

“Well then”, the roan one replied, “once I have rested, shall we travel together?”
